Course countdown

The countdown is on…There are only three classes left between me and a BS degree, well that is if we don’t count my current course (Intermediate Networking). It is certainly a bit weird to think about being done, that’s for sure. I’ve spent a few years taking courses, with most of my free time in front of my computer, staying up late, reading through pdf’s, writing papers, doing projects, or running through code. To think that I am that close to being finished is sort of surreal. If my grades continue to go the way they are, I can be finished by this December. One of my cousins suggested that I continue and get a graduate degree, but I think I’ll pass on that.

I started back to Jiu-Jitsu in late January, just once a week for now, but at least I’m there with some level of consistency. We took a short trip in early January and when we got back, I just felt ready to step on the mats. It’s been tough go as I have found myself being the proverbial “nail,” but I’ve enjoyed it as I knew I would. The rust is slowly starting to fall off, and my breathing and cardio has improved ever so slightly. I also feel like I am being smarter in my movements and taking less risks. At this point for me it’s not about competition or a belt, it is about having fun and staying in shape.

I’ve also been continuing my “rediscovery” of one of my old pastimes, target shooting, as I did during the height of the pandemic. We’ve gone out a few times with our pistols trying to get a bit of consistency and accuracy in our groupings. So far, it has gone well with some modest improvement each time. Hopefully, we can keep it up now that the weather has started to get warmer.
