Thoughts

play time

Tournament time!  Saturday is the IBJJF NY Pro in Harlem.  This time its only myself and my teammate, Julie, competing.  I have five people in my division while she has four.  One of the guys in my division is a former opponent and beat me in the first round in my last tournament, the 2016 Summer Open.  Hopefully this time it will go my way.

My preparations, cardio, diet, lifting and training, have felt good but this translates to nothing when it all comes down to it, because your opponent has been doing the same thing.  Once you step on the mat, have a plan but be ready to deviate.  Play your game just like you've been doing in drilling and in sparring and remember...

Be more aggressive, but in a controlled manner.

Exude confidence, not cockiness.

Approach the situation with intelligence.

Smooth movements are efficient movements.

Try a different option, don't force a position.

It's gonna be a tough day for sure, but no matter what, we just gotta go out there and do our best.  Win or lose, we walk away better then when we walked in.
