shift in the wind
Tomorrow is the Ammo Fight League tournament in South Windsor, Connecticut. It should take about one and a half to two hours to get there it looks like, so we will head out pretty early. I am about as ready as I am going to be, my cardio is on point, I feel focused and I should be well rested. I think there are four or five of us who are competing. Hopefully the team (myself included) will do well. I will try to get pictures and video of as many of our matches as possible and post them to YouTube and Flickr.
Today started out pretty smooth, I got all my ingredients for dinner, and dessert. I was making beef curry with chips and rice. I handled all my assignments at work and was coasting through the afternoon until around 230pm. That's when my coworker came in and showed me the score for an isolate on the MALDI-Tof assay she was running. Turns out there may be a possible Brucella exposure occurrence. Some of the biochemicals didn't quite match up to what Brucella is supposed to look like so the Select Agent protocol wasn't implemented which is how it got into the normal work flow. The MALDI id was Brucella and the confirmatory PCR also identified it as Brucella. Those exposed are on fever watch for 3 weeks...
And to finish out my day, my Uncle passed away. He was a tough man, but good. He worked hard all his life and took care of his family, kids and grandkids alike. He was always good to me and my sister when we went to his house as children. I feel terrible for my four cousins and their families.
