enjoy the silence

I've been a bit lax on here lately and I apologize.  My last post was written on the 13th but I didn't publish it until the 28th.  I have been preoccupied with some other things.  There is a tournament coming up so I have been focusing mainly on getting myself ready for it.  I have been stepping up my lifting, cardio and training as well as getting my diet straightened out.  Going into this tournament I want to be able to say I did everything within my power to get myself prepared and put myself in a situation to be able succeed.

My cardio is feeling good.  I am able to hit my marks in terms of timing and distance up to this point, now I have to move those marks a bit further and keep at it.  Lifting is the same as normal, just repping it out in the gym.  My diet has clicked pretty well, limiting carbs, upping my protein intake and dropping my beer consumption.  At this point, my weight is where it needs to be. Training wise, I have stepped up my intensity and pace.  I haven't been feeling as tired as I was after class so I know preparation is going ok.  I plan on trying to up the amount of training I get in per week and so far have managed to succeed in doing just that.

This last Saturday I took the Metro-North to go to Unity Jiu-Jitsu school in NYC.  Usually I head other places  in NYC, but based upon my instructors recommendation (he trains here two days at week at their Pro Training), I went in to get some reps.  The place was nice, small, and everyone was very friendly.  We drilled chokes from the back along with armbar to triangle, and I picked up a few details which will be useful in the future.  After this it was open mat for a little over an hour.  I got to roll with a few Blue belts and Purple, Brown and a Black belt.  It was definitely worth going here and I was glad Brian said to check it out.

Sunday I had to work so I couldn't go to a wrestling seminar down at BlackHole, but I did pop in to the local RGA affiliate.  They were cool about letting me train and pretty welcoming.  We went over a butterfly guard sweep and a loop choke, both things which I will use in my game.  Joe has hit me with the loop choke on many an occasion so now hopefully I can return the favor :)  Once we finished drilling it was time to spar.  I got a few rounds in with some of their guys (White, Blue, and Brown Belts) before heading home to get ready for work.

3 to go.
