shhh
I was paid a nice compliment yesterday after training. Earlier, I had been working with a whitebelt (although they had extensive martial arts experience) drilling technique. During drilling, he asked how long I'd been training etc, so I gave him a quick run down. After class he came up to me and did the typical "good class" line with a fist bump, then thanked me and explained why he had asked me about how long I'd been training. He basically said I was very humble which made him think I had been training for a long time. It kind of caught me off guard, I had never been described as humble. I used to enjoy attention when I was younger, but not so much anymore. (Yes i have a blog, which gets minimal attention, but this is more an outlet or sounding board rather then a means to get attention). Nowadays I'm more inclined to say little, listen alot and either do what I feel or go with the flow.
People who talk too much are covering up for their insecurities. At my former club, there was a group who came in after our time slot ended. Most of the guys were nice, but there were a few douche bags. On occasion, they would train with us or I would train with them. One thing I remembered was hearing from certain individuals, how great they were, how they invented moves, how they could do it better, or what I "really wanted to do" with my move. It got to be really annoying and really turned me off to the whole situation. STFU, mind your business and train harder, then you might be better and won't have to tell how good you are, you can show it.
