crunch time.

So there are about 9 days left.  Am I ready?  Absolutely, as ready as i'm going to be.  Am I nervous? Not so much.  What am I talking about?  I went and registered for the IBJJF NY Summer Open last month and now its game time.

I've competed a bunch before so its not like competition is a new experience for me.  It should be and always is a learning experience, win or lose.  I'm going to see how I stack up against other random guys my age and skill level and figure out what I have to work on to progress on my jiujitsu journey.  My professor has given me the keys now I just have to find the lock. I put good work on the mats with some great training partners who continually push me or smash me.  Hopefully all our hard work will pay off.  9 days and we shall see.

On another semi related note.  I am HYPED to watch the blackbelts compete.  There is nothing smoother then watching high level jiujitsu.  There should be some good matches.  My instructor, Brian Beaury, is in the lightweight division with Gianni Grippo and Rodrigo Lamounier de Freitas along with a few others.  Up in the black belt master 1 division is Kurt Pellegrino.  I will try to get some pics of the day and of some of the brown and black belt matches.
